7 NOVEMBER 2011 NO COMMENT About the Film Rampart (2011) This story has some connection to a true life police scandal that happened in America in the 1990’s. It was called th Rampart scandal. More than 70 policeman were found to be involved in misconduct in many different ways; beatings, shootings, stealing and tampering with evidence, just to name a few offences. Woody Harrelson plays Dave Brown, an experienced policeman working in Los Angeles in the 1990s, when the Rampart scandal is happening. Dave Brown just wants to survive and keep his family safe, at a difficult time. Woody Harrelson is known for ‘Indecent Proposal’ (1993) also starring Robert Redford and Demi Moore. A story plot loosely similar to the film ‘Honeymoon in Vegas’ (1992) starring Nicolas Cage, Sarah Jessica Parker (‘Sex and the City’ fame) and James Caan, both films involving the wife spending some time with another man and both stories involving alot of money. Harrelson appeared in the popular American TV series ‘Cheers’ (1985-1993) which led to the also popular spin off series ‘Frasier’ (1993-2004) starring Kelsey Grammer.
